ABILENE – Home sales in Abilene were up in October compared with October 2011, but the average sales price went down slightly, according to the Abilene Association of Realtors.

The median price also fell from $123,000 a year ago to $117,000 in October 2012.

Average prices hovered between $140,000 and $144,000 for several months this year and peaked in August at nearly $150,000 — it was $141,948 in September. October’s average price was listed at $135,337 — it was $137,490 in October 2011.

Abilene real estate agents sold 138 homes, 15 more than the same time last year. Total sales were listed at $18,676,533, compared with $16,911,281 in October 2011.

Most of the homes sold were priced from $100,000 to $139,000, with homes in the $140,000 to $179,000 range a close second. Two homes sold for $500,000 or more. About 42 of the homes sold within 30 days.
