RGC High School Mighty Rattlers’ $52M facility
RIO GRANDE CITY, STARR COUNTY – Construction has begun on the new Rio Grande City High School, located on the corner of FM 755 and Embassy St. The seven-building, 352,000-sf facility will replace the current high school at FM 3167, according to Roel Gonzalez, superintendent.
The $52 million project is expected to be complete by May 2014. The site encompasses 100 acres.
Each building will be dedicated to a different subject area, including language arts, math and science, career and technology, fine arts and athletics.
Ringgold Middle School and a new magnet middle school will move into the FM 3167 campus, according to Gonzalez. The new magnet program will emphasize a hands-on learning environment and independent investigation.
