MIDLAND - Midland had the second highest per capita personal income in the nation in 2011 with $65,173 per capita, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Midland ranked behind only Bridgeport, Conn., which had $78,504 worth of personal income per capita.

Odessa along with Midland had the highest personal income growth between 2010 and 2011 among all MSAs in the United States. In fact, they were the only MSAs to achieve double-digit percent changes.

Odessa came in first with a 14.8 percent change in total personal income and a 12.4 percent change in personal income per capita.

Midland came in second with a 14.6 percent change in total personal income and an 11.9 percent change in personal income per capita.

Personal income in the United States rose 5.2 percent in 2011 and increased in all of the nation’s 366 MSAs for the first time since 2007.
