SAN ANGELO - A $22 million renovation and expansion has been planned for Baptist Retirement Community (BRC). The project is expected to run from 2013 to 2017. Revitalization plans include:

  • expansion and renovation of the Henley/Mabee high-rise residences into a 80-apartment independent living community with an attached wellness center — which will include a dining venue, library, computer learning area, bistro restaurant, community room, aerobics area and a heated pool;
  • construction of two new homes for residents with memory loss, which will include 28 apartments for 30 residents in memory care and assisted living;
  • two new GREEN HOUSE homes, which provides for elders needing skilled nursing care; and
  • campus beautification.

BRC serves 900 seniors, none of whom will be displaced during the revamp.
