BELTON - Belton City Council approved a developer’s plan to build a senior-living rental community on five acres of land at the southwest corner of Sparta Rd. and Commerce Dr.

The developer, Prestwick Land Holdings, also plans to build a new similarly sized retail center next to the housing community.

Once constructed, the 88-unit senior-living community for residents 55 years or older will include 42 one-bedroom units spanning 700 to 750 sf and 46 two-bedroom units of 900 and 950 sf.

The facility will also include a courtyard, community garden, catering kitchen, television and media room, fitness center, health screening room, library and leasing office, according to Planning Director Erin Newcomer in a presentation to the Council.
