AUSTIN - Visa Inc. has tentatively agreed to build a major global information technology center in Austin that would create 794 new jobs within five years.
The jobs would have an average annual wage of $113,351.
The breakdown would be 51 managers, 77 supervisors, 642 staff workers and 71 entry level jobs. The staff workers are expected to have average wages of $95,000.
The company has agreed to fill at least 70 percent of the new jobs in Austin with local hires.
Visa expects to locate its center in a 175,000-sf building at 12301 Research Blvd. in Northwest Austin. It estimates it will spend $27.2 million on property and equipment in the project by the end of 2015.
The state has offered Visa $7.9 million in incentives for the project through the Texas Enterprise Fund. The city’s fiscal impact analysis estimates the Visa facility would have a net benefit to Austin of $6.9 million over ten years.
The Austin City Council is expected to vote on the incentives offer at its regular meeting Dec. 6.
