HOUSTON - The $60 million, 22,000-seat BBVA Compass Stadium, the new home of the Houston Dynamo, has received LEED Silver certification.
Some sustainable design features that helped the stadium achieve certification include reducing water use by 41 percent, reducing energy use by about 20 percent and providing preferred parking spaces for low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles.
The stadium is the first sports facility in Houston to receive LEED Silver certification for new construction.
