HOUSTON - The Houston area has made the top five on Forbes’ recent list of cities ranked by paycheck size for college graduates. The area’s overall median pay of $66,700 ranks it No. 5.

Topping the list is the San Jose, Calif., area with $93,100 in overall median pay. Forbes used Payscale.com’s paycheck data for workers who hold at least a bachelor’s degree in the 100 largest metropolitan statistical areas. DFW ranks No. 14 with a median pay of $62,200.

PayScale also ranked Houston No. 3 for paycheck growth in third quarter 2012. The San Francisco, Calif. and Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn. areas took the top two spots in that analysis.
