Houston No. 2 for most jobs gained in a year

HOUSTON – The Houston metropolitan area had 96,300 more private sector jobs in October 2012 than it did during October 2011, ranking the city No. 2 among 102 major markets.

As far as percentage gain, Houston also takes the second spot in the nation with 4.28 percent.

New York City led the nation with the addition of 130,800 private-sector jobs in the year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Statistics data.

Stockton, Calif. is the leader in percentage terms, expanding its job base by 4.9 percent in 12 months.
