EASTLAND, EASTLAND COUNTY – HDI Plastics plans to construct a 75,000-sf plastics recycling facility in Eastland Industrial Park in 2013.

The facility, just east of I-20, will be expandable to 150,000 sf over a period of five to seven years, according to Jerry Conner with Eastland Economic Development Corporation.

In Phase 1, the company will have roughly 75 employees at the new facility, and when all is said and done the company will employ over 200 people. Average annual salaries for the employees will be more than $24,000.

HDI will be the anchor business in the park and is expected to break ground in mid- to late-2013.

An estimated $4 million will initially be invested, including nearly $2.9 million in machinery and equipment. In addition, HDI will have about $300,000 in inventory the first year of operation, increasing to $1.1 million in ten years.

The Eastland Development Corp. is giving 20 acres to the company for the facility. HDI is in the process of finalizing the incentive package it is expected to receive from the state of Texas.

HDI Plastic collects plastic waste and makes it into pellets sold to other manufacturers. The company is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
