DALLAS – Dallas-based Baylor Health Care System and Temple-based Scott & White Healthcare plan to merge, making the new entity the largest not-for-profit health system in the state.
The new system, to be called Baylor Scott & White Health, will have nearly $8 billion in combined assets and include 42 hospitals, 4,000 active doctors and 34,000 employees.
Baylor is one of the largest health care providers in North Texas, while Scott & White is dominant in Central Texas. The systems are negotiating and expect to complete a definitive merger agreement next year.
