McALLEN – The local unemployment rate continues to dip across the Rio Grande Valley, sliding below pre-recession lows in April.

At 7.3 percent, McAllen-Edinburg-Mission metro area unemployment remains the highest in Texas and above the national average of 5.4 percent.

The Brownsville-Harlingen metropolitan area is also above the national average with an unemployment rate of 6.7 percent, a dip from 7.1 percent in March and an even greater decline from 8 percent in April 2014.
