DALLAS-FORT WORTH - Home starts in the DFW area were almost 50 percent higher in fourth quarter 2012 than they were a year earlier, according to Residential Strategies.
Builders started 4,549 homes in the area — the largest fourth quarter start total in the DFW area in five years.
Builders sold 16,416 new homes in 2012, the largest number since 2009, and up almost 20 percent in the 4Q 2011.
Less than 2,000 finished, vacant new homes were on the market in North Texas at the end of 2012, a 14-year low.
