Sales tax allocations rise in Temple, Belton

TEMPLE, HARKER HEIGHTS, BELTON – January’s local sales tax allocations for the State of Texas totaled $530.8 million, up 7.3 percent compared to January 2012.

Temple is set to receive $1,462,327, representing a 20.40 percent increase from January 2012. Harker Heights will receive $370,253, down 3.73 percent from $384,618 in January 2012.

The most significant local change will be felt in Belton, which will receive $340,573. This represents a 21.91 percent increase from the $279,362 it received in January 2012.

The state sales tax revenue in December was $2.17 billion, which is a 9.4 percent increase compared to December 2011. The sales tax figures represent November sales reported by monthly tax filers.
