BIG SPRING, HOWARD COUNTY - Hotel Settles, located at 200 E. Third St., has reopened after shutting its doors in 1982. Completed in 1930 just as the Great Depression was beginning, the Settles is said to have cost $500,000.

The hotel originally had 150 rooms available, but with renovation and the inclusion of some modern aspects, the hotel will now have 65.

The project had an estimated cost of $12 million, according to state filings.

The hotel will be a member of Historic Hotels of America as well as maintain its historical charter. Rooms are $179 to $1,000 per night.

The third floor will also allow hotel guests to experience the rooms as they once were. The hotel will maintain the size and integrity of the historical rooms.

The hotel will also have five rooms designed for extended stays.
