SUGAR LAND – Nalco Energy Services has bought 18.5 acres in the Imperial master-planned community as it continues to rapidly expand its local presence. The company purchased the land from Cherokee Sugarland LLC.

Nalco employs about 600 in Sugar Land, where it has its energy services division, which provides chemical and water solutions to energy companies.

The 700-acre Imperial project is a redevelopment of the original Imperial Sugar site at the intersection of SH 6 and US 90A. It is being developed by Johnson Development Corp.

It will eventually have 200 single-family homes, 625 multifamily units, more than 1 million sf of retail and mixed-use space, a professional business park with 800,000 sf of office space and the 7,500-seat Constellation Field — which opened last April.

Constellation Field is the home of the Sugar Land Skeeters minor league baseball team.
