LONGVIEW – Longview’s sales tax revenue for January 2013 reached a new record high of $2.393 million.
City sales tax receipts for the month increased 4.77 percent from a year ago when Longview’s share of sales tax revenue was $2.284 million. The January figure was also $72,000 more than the previous January record of $2.321 million set in 2011.
The city’s January revenue figure represents taxes collected during the beginning of the holiday shopping season in November. Those taxes were reported to the state in December with the local share disbursed back to cities, counties and other entities in January.
