San Antonio home sales jumped in 2012
SAN ANTONIO – The area’s housing market had a healthy showing in 2012, with the improvement expected to continue through this year. The local market benefited from stronger consumer confidence, low mortgage interest rates, job growth and affordable housing prices.
In December, there were 1,548 home sales, a nearly 9 percent jump compared to the same period the previous year. The median home price also rose during the month to $160,200, a 4.7 percent increase from December 2011.
More than 19,900 homes sold in the San Antonio area last year, a 10.5 percent jump from the 18,052 sold in 2011, according to data from the San Antonio Board of Realtors. The market saw a 3 percent uptick in the number of homes sold in the $200,000 to $499,000 range from 2011 to 2012.
