PHARR - Construction is set to begin on the 16-screen Cinemark movie theater in El Centro Mall at the intersection of Jackson Rd. and Expy. 83. The theater, which has an estimated cost of $8 million, will contain 65,856 sf on the ground floor level and 18,860 sf on the mezzanine floor level, according to state licensing.
Cinemark is expecting to begin construction soon and hopes to have it open within the year, said James Meredith, vice president of marketing and communications.
It will include an XD Extreme Digital Cinema auditorium with the largest screen and highest quality sound system in the complex. The theater will be Pharr’s first first-run movie theater. It will replace the Cinemark Movies 8 in El Centro.
