BAYTOWN – GRP Holdings Inc. has purchased the 391,064-sf former San Jacinto Hospital, at 1101 Decker Dr. for $550,000. The old Methodist Hospital System building has been sitting vacant for years.

Methodist sold the building, which sits on nine acres, to Goose Creek Retirement Community Inc. in 2006, after moving its San Jacinto Hospital to a new location in 2003. Goose Creek was not able to raise the funds needed to renovate the building, in part because of the economic crisis.

The property had gone into foreclosure and was listed for $750,000.
