Odessa economy breaks top ten

PERMIAN BASIN – Midland and Odessa have been ranked in the top ten of 179 of the smallest metropolitan statistical areas by the Milken Institute. For 2012, Odessa ranked fourth, up from 34 in 2011, while Midland came in at eight, up from 22 the previous year.

Odessa was ranked second in five-year job creation from 2006 to 2011, first in one-year job growth from 2010 to 2011 and fourth in wage and salary growth from 2005 to 2010.

Midland ranked first in the survey’s look at five-year job creation from 2006 to 2011 and in wage and salary growth from 2005 to 2010 and second in one-year job creation from 2010 to 2011.
