EDINBURG - Cinemark has signed a long-term lease at the empty Alamo Drafthouse. Cinemark’s theater will open this summer, acting as an anchor that attracts interest from developers who can fill in other vacant areas at the Trenton Crossroads Plaza.

The company plans to develop a six-screen theater where patrons can order microbrewed beers, premium wines and other drinks while dining on an expanded food menu.

Edinburg will also see renewed activity at the Shoppes at Rio Grande Valley, its premier retail center that opened in 2008 at the corner of US 281 and Trenton. The Shoppes added 90,000 sf of retail space in summer 2012 as the final touches of its 450,000-sf first phase.

Nearly half of the 1.1 million sf planned by First Hartford, the project's developer, is still left unfinished. The second phase to finish the rest of the development should begin later in 2013.
