EL PASO – El Paso’s historic Luther Building, built in 1915, is set to undergo an $11.5 million remodel.

The City of El Paso has awarded the contract to C.F. Jordan, but the project could go as high as $13 million. The city was going to buy the 73,000-sf building for $2 million, but the owner decided to donate it instead.

At $178 per sf, the complete renovation will remove the facade and reveal the historic brick facade. When completed in October 2013, the six-story building with a basement will be home to the city’s Information Technology Department, along with fire and police department functions and other city operations.
