2012: Montgomery County home sales climb 16 percent
MONTGOMERY COUNTY – Existing home sales in Montgomery County increased 16.1 percent in 2012. According to figures compiled by the Houston Association of Realtors, 6,700 single-family homes were sold in the past year compared with 5,771 in 2011.
Sellers enjoyed a 17.7 percent increase in total dollar volume. Total sale prices in Montgomery County reached $1.721 billion compared with $1.462 billion in 2011.
Year-to-date median prices ranged from $118,930 (1.7 percent increase) in the Conroe area to $225,000 (7.1 percent increase) in The Woodlands/South County.
Northwest County finished the year with a median price of $199,700 (12.2 percent above last year). Homes in East County jumped from a median price of $168,000 in 2011 to $183,500 in 2012 (9.2 percent).
