TERRY COUNTY – Texas Custom Wine Works (TCWW) is opening the first custom crush facility in Texas. The 21,000-sf facility will open March 1 just outside Brownfield and will be the first custom crushing facility in the entire southeastern U.S.

Plans for the facility include a wide range of wine-making equipment, temperature-controlled storage tanks, a vibratory sorting table, a must chiller, 3,000-barrel capacity storage and a barrel room.

With no plans for developing a private label wine themselves, the business is operating in reverse of the industry standard, with the primary focus on offering clients true custom options from blend to bottle design.

TCWW’s goal is to be a facilitator and maximize other businesses’ abilities to produce products, whether it’s a grower looking to put in vines or a wine maker ready to take it to the next level.

Home to the highest concentration of vineyard acreage in the state, Terry County produces about 80 percent of the grapes used to make Texas wines. With a crop projection of almost 4,000 tons this year, Terry County is expected to out-produce the entire state of Texas combined.

Since 2010, Texas has permitted an average of 40 new wineries each year.
