AUSTIN – Construction on a new 165,000-sf covered arena and several recreational features for Dripping Springs Ranch Park is underway.

The first phase of construction at the park, across from Dripping Springs Elementary School on RM 12, will include building the arena, which will have concession stands and a 12,000-sf banquet hall.

Complete with bleacher-style seating, the space will be used for various events such as car shows, arts and crafts fairs, and concerts. The park construction will include building equestrian and pedestrian trails, primitive camping areas and picnic areas with horseshoe- and washer-throwing courts.

The City of Dripping Springs bought the original 64-acre park, formerly called Harrison Ranch Park, for $1.6 million in 2008.

Construction on the arena will last through the summer, with two events already scheduled for the new facility in September and October.
