HARRIETT, TOM GREEN COUNTY – Womack Tank & Manufacturing, a steel manufacturing facility for the oil and gas industry, plans to locate to Harriett, an unincorporated community halfway between San Angelo and Miles on US 67.

The facility is being built on 6 acres. The site totals 51 acres, leaving room for expansion. The company has a startup date for the end of March, according to Curtis Pittman, the vice president of operations and daily affairs for the company.

The plant will first manufacture steel and fiberglass storage tanks and later produce additional equipment used in the oil and gas industry, such as separators, heater treaters and gunbarrels.

The company will hire 15 to 20 employees right off the bat, with that number expected to possibly double or triple, depending on the specific techniques that will be used in the manufacturing.

They’ll need certified welders, experienced painters, employees who can read and follow blueprints and know how to pressure-test oil field equipment.
