Sam’s Club set to open in La Marque

LA MARQUE – Sam’s Club is set to open its newest location at the intersection of I-45 and FM 1764 on March 21. The new 136,000-sf store, adjacent to a Wal-Mart Supercenter, will replace the Texas City Sam’s Club.

The Texas City location’s 175 current employees will relocate to the La Marque location, and the company plans to hire 40 additional employees. Throughout Texas, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. employs more than 150,000 people.

The new location will include a hearing center, a larger fresh-food department and a fuel station with 12 pumps. Construction costs were estimated at $5.6 million, according to state filings.
