PORT ARANSAS - Residential development is booming and it is showing in building permit valuations.
When building permit valuations hit $795,400 for January 2005, city officials saw that as something of a boom. Valuations for January 2012 were more than three times bigger, at $2,837,537, according to Port Aransas City Hall.
In January 2013 permit valuations topped out at $5,533,823. Most of it has been for residential construction, said Dave Parsons, the city manager.
