BROOKSHIRE, WEST HOUSTON - By the end of March 2013, Houston Executive Airport, at 1900 Cardiff Rd., will make aviation history by having the largest fixed-base operator (FBO) arrival canopy in the world.

The 32,800-sf canopy is part of a $4.8 million project that also includes a 22,500-sf FBO terminal building at Henriksen Jet Center.

The significance of being the world's largest FBO arrival canopy is that it can accommodate two Gulfstream 550s side by side or one 737, according to Andrew Perry, executive director for both the Houston and Austin Executive airports.

In the past ten months, the airport has expanded hangar lease space to more than 122,000 sf. The airport opened in 2007.
