Harris County foreclosures drop 42 percent

HARRIS COUNTY – Harris County Trustees foreclosed on 613 properties in February 2013, a 42.0 percent drop from the 1,065 posted in February 2012, according to Foreclosure Information & Listing Service (FLS).

Foreclosure postings totaled 2,145 in February 2013, a 39.5 percent decline from the 3,547 posted in February 2012 and the lowest level since 2008.

For the 12 months ending February 2013, foreclosures totaled 9,018, a 21.7 percent decline from the 11,512 foreclosures during the same period in 2012.

There were 31,803 postings during the 12 months ending February 2013, a 24.1 percent decrease from the 41,902 postings during the same period last year.

This is the lowest 12-month total of foreclosures since October 2006 and the lowest 12-month total of postings since March 2009.
