BEXAR COUNTY - The foreclosure postings have returned to levels the market hasn't seen since before the housing crisis. For March, lenders are moving to foreclose on 724 properties, a 36.6 percent drop from the same month last year, according to data from RexReport.

The last time levels were that low was in 2006, when 719 properties were listed for foreclosure.

“The numbers are a lot better than that because Bexar County was much smaller (in 2006),” said Gregg Stanley of RexReport. “So we have more people, more homes and the same number of foreclosures. This is a very good thing.”

This continues the sharp decline in foreclosures Bexar County has seen since December when the number dropped 41 percent compared to the previous year. In January and February, postings fell 35 percent and 34 percent, respectively.

Stanley said he expects the decline in foreclosure listings to continue throughout 2013. Factors that have helped keep the numbers low include San Antonio's strong job growth, property owners' ability to work off debt, and inflation.
