HOUSTON - Single-family home sales continued at an unprecedented pace as sales rose 28.3 percent in January 2013 compared with January 2012, according to Houston Association of Realtors (HAR). January accounted for the 20th consecutive month of positive sales.
Contracts closed on 3,899 homes, driving inventory down to 3.6 months, a level last seen in December 1999.
Total dollar volume for all property types leapt 33.6 percent, increasing from $680 million to $908 million on a year-over-year basis.
At $200,296, the single-family average home price reached the highest level for a January in Houston, and at $150,000, the single-family home median price also reached an historic high for a January.
