DENTON – Mayday Manufacturing, an aerospace parts company, broke ground on an 80,000-sf renovation of a former pharmaceutical plant to change it from a warehouse to a manufacturing facility.

The facility is located at 3100 Jim Christal Rd., one mile from the current headquarters at 1500 I-35W.

Mayday Manufacturing’s sister company Hi-Tech Metal Finish will also share the facility.

The cost of the interior renovation is estimated at about $3.7 million while another $2.8 million is estimated for the outside construction. Renovations include new plating lines and waste treatment facilities for Hi-Tech, and an addition of a 13,000-sf office in the front.

The company plans to move in during 4Q 2013.

Mayday Manufacturing employs 250 workers and has seven positions available, ranging from entry level to computer numeral control machinists.
