SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio has been ranked among the best markets in the country for new single-family homes, according to John Burns Real Estate Consulting based in Irvine, Calif.

John Burns released its list of the top 20 single-family housing markets in the U.S. — as ranked by the number of single-family permits recorded for 2012. Coming in at No. 18 is San Antonio — with a total of 5,125 housing permits.

The Alamo City was one of five metros in the Lone Star State that made the list. Taking the No. 1 and No. 2 spots were Houston and Dallas — with a total of 28,567 and 12,623 single-family permits, respectively.
