ROBSTOWN - Lockard Companies, along with partners Dolphin Ventures and EWB Development, have purchased 74 acres. The land will be home to the planned Outlets at Corpus Christi Bay.

Construction on the complex near the Richard M. Borchard Fairgrounds is slated to begin this summer with plans to open its doors to shoppers in spring 2014.

Phase I of development includes 300,000 sf of retail space with another 30 acres for further development. The project would boost the county’s sales tax revenue and create jobs in the area, officials have said, and stores including Guess, Puma and Brooks Brothers are on board.

Developers hope the outlet mall’s location along US 77 will make it a stop for travelers en route to or from the Rio Grande Valley, South Padre Island and Mexico.
