Cinemark, Gold’s Gym heading to Temple
TEMPLE – Cinemark Theaters and a Gold’s Gym Express are headed to the former Outdoor America Mall, now known as Gateway Center.
The mall’s front wall will be turned into exterior-facing retail with a glass storefront, according to Will Morris, whose Charter Real Estate manages the project. The property remodel will be $2 million to $3 million and includes significant new landscaping.
Plano-based Cinemark’s all-digital theater — which will feature 12 screens — should open in December. The new theater will create 70 jobs, according to James Meredith, a Cinemark spokesman.
Gold’s Gym Express will occupy 18,000 sf of the 42,000-sf, former Room Store and construction will start in April, according to Morris.
Current governmental tenants including the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs will remain at the Gateway Center. Others including Harvest Church, Exhale Fitness and Denim and Diamonds nightclub will vacate the mall when their leases expire.
