El Paso five and dime comes back as CVS
EL PASO – CVS pharmacy has opened its first El Paso store at Texas and Mesa streets Downtown El Paso. The company purchased the 30,000-sf building last summer and then renovated it for $1.2 million.
The new store, 201 North Mesa St., is on the ground floor of the two-story building that once housed the McCrory Department Store.
The store’s 11,000 sf is slightly smaller than a CVS store’s typical 13,000 sf, and the downtown store has an expanded grocery area compared with a typical CVS store. CVS officials are not yet saying what the company plans to do with the Downtown building’s vacant second floor.
CVS is also building a second El Paso store at 745 Zaragoza, near a Pro’s Ranch Market grocery store in the Lower Valley. That store is expected to open June 2013.
