THE WOODLANDS – The Woodlands Development Co. is moving forward with a $95 million renovation project on The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center.

The development company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Howard Hughes Corp., will expand the 222 existing guestrooms by 184 and add a 1,000-foot lazy river.

The project is expected to be completed by late 2014 and the property will stay open throughout the redevelopment.

The resort and conference center, which is more than 30 years old, will also include 60,000 sf of fully revitalized meeting space and event space, an updated spa and a 120-seat upscale steakhouse restaurant.
