Tech approves budget for TTU Research, Technology Park
LUBBOCK – The Texas Tech System Board of Regents approved the establishment of a Stage I design budget for the TTU Research & Technology Park. The project will develop a research and business campus on a portion of 120 acres of Tech property located at the southeast corner of Fourth St. and Quaker Ave.
The $1.2 million budget approved by the board is for the programmatic efforts of the first phase of the project — a single 125,000-sf building, according to Michael Molina, vice chancellor of facilities planning and construction for the system.
By the end of 2013, Molina plans to break ground on the raw site.
The site will be the location of university research facilities and research-related commercial businesses. The facility will encourage interaction between university faculty and students, as well as commercial industries.
