DALLAS-FORT WORTH – The Texas Workforce Commission announced layoffs involving a number of North Texas companies, including Aramark, Horizon Lines Inc. and Hodges Trucking that will result in the loss of 295 jobs.

Aramark will lay off 114 employees working within Allen Independent School District at the end of the month. GCA Services Group will take over Aramark’s role, and the company may or may not make an offer to employees to keep their positions.

Horizon Lines, a shipping and logistics company in Dallas, also will be laying off 114 employees in Irving at the end of July. The company recently was acquired by Matco, with the deal closing on May 29.

Hodges Trucking in Alvarado will be laying off 67 employees on July 25. Hodges is a major oilrig moving company, with a fleet of more than 280 trucks.

Oil price declines in the past year have led to many layoffs in the oil patch as companies have cut back on drilling activity.
