Wichita Falls Airport’s ticket to $25M terminal
WICHITA FALLS – Sundt Construction Inc.’s Texas Division will construct a 40,000-sf replacement terminal building at the Wichita Falls Municipal Airport.
“The Wichita Falls Municipal Airport is a joint-use facility, located at Sheppard Air Force Base,” says Robert Schmidt, aviation engineering manager with URS Corp.
“In this case, the city leases land from the Air Force in order to operate a civilian terminal, which is served by American Eagle. The joint use arrangement presents unique challenges in coordinating design standards, construction operations, and security procedures.”
Sundt’s local joint venture partner is contractor Trinity Hughes.
Sundt/Trinity Hughes crews will start building the facility this summer, with a 13-month construction schedule. The estimated cost is $25 million. The replacement terminal building will be built on an existing parking lot.
