ABILENE – After a good showing in January, home sales in the city were slightly down in February compared with a year ago, and so were the average and median sales prices, according to a report released by the Abilene Association of Realtors.

Abilene real estate agents sold 112 homes last month, nine less than what was transacted the same month last year. The average sales price for a home sold in February was $124,345, nearly $4,000 less than what it was in February 2012.

The February median price was $111,625, down from $115,000 a year ago.

Total sales last month were $13,926,589. Two homes priced $400,000-$499,000 sold last month and another sold for more than $500,000.

The lowest price range in the report, the $29,000 and below range saw 12 sales. In the $120,000-$159,000 range, 24 homes sold.

Of the 112 homes, 33 buyers paid in cash, 34 used conventional loans, 25 for FHA, 18 for VA, and one each were owner-financed and other financing.
