WACO – The Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area saw its jobless rate fall to 6.1 percent in February from 6.5 percent in January.

A total of 109,000 people held jobs in McLennan County in February, according to estimates by the Texas Workforce Commission and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s 400 more than in January and 1,300 more than in February of last year, when the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 percent.

The Waco/McLennan County area saw its nonfarm employment grow to 107,900 in February from 104,800 in February of last year, an increase of 3,100 people.

The Midland Metropolitan Statistical Area had the lowest February unemployment rate in the state at 3.2 percent.
