STEPHENVILLE, ERATH COUNTY - Construction has started at the O.A. Grant Humanities Building, where 12,000 sf will be rehabilitated and two additional floors above the existing auditoriums will be added. The $13.7 million project will increase the building’s area by about 30,840 sf.

The renovation and expansion of the 40-year-old O.A. Grant Building will modernize and expand space, improve energy efficiency and create environments that are secure, and will enhance learning for all students.

The project addition will include the University Writing Center, a Department of Communication Studies suite, Texan TV News studio and media convergence center, and offices for the dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts.

An outdoor plaza, complete with a tiered-seating amphitheater, is also included as part of the project to provide outdoor classroom space in the area of the existing grassy knoll.

The current schedule calls for substantial completion of the O.A. Grant Humanities Building in June 2014.
