SAN ANTONIO – The new Freedom Park at Fort Sam Houston is officially open to serve wounded warriors. The Army held a formal ceremony to open the $4.5 million project where wounded troops can work with physical therapists or on their own to regain their strength and independence after suffering serious injuries.
The six-acre park is an extension of the Warrior and Family Support Center on the post that helps military families while their relatives are being treated at San Antonio Military Medical Center.
The park is wheelchair accessible and includes green space, fountains, a walking and running trail, exercise stations, benches, tables and an amphitheater.
