Abilene sales tax receipts up 10 percent
ABILENE – Sales tax receipts for Abilene this month, which reflect February sales, totaled $3,208,852, which is 4.15 percent above April 2012 numbers, and 9.68 percent above the projected fiscal year 2013 budget amount, the city’s finance department said.
Statewide, the latest tax collection totaled $1.98 billion, up 5.5 percent compared with the same period a year prior. The state’s sales tax revenue has increased for 36 consecutive months.
State Comptroller Susan Combs will send April tax allocations totaling $521.9 million, up 6.8 percent from last year, to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts.
