Construction to begin on Harlingen’s new Sam’s

HARLINGEN – Construction is set to begin on the new Sam’s Club to be located at the northwest corner of the US 77 and US 83 interchange. The store — which is scheduled to open in spring 2014 — will create between 175 and 200 new jobs.

The project has an estimated cost of $7.5 million, according to state filings. The City of Harlingen has invested about $5 million to build public roads to the new store and the surrounding industrial park.
