ELGIN - H-E-B opened its newly expanded and renovated grocery store. The remodeling process began in October 2012. It includes an additional 18,834 sf, which translates into a 25 percent increase in product selection.

Construction costs were estimated at $6.2 million, according to state filings.

The 55,000-sf store will include a sushi kiosk, a full-service seafood department, an expanded bakery, a tortilleria, a renovated deli, an expanded meat market, additional check stands, new restrooms and more parking spaces.

San Antonio-based H-E-B operates 335 stores in Texas and Mexico.
