ABILENE – The average sales price of homes in Abilene went up slightly in March, but the number of homes sold decreased compared with a year ago, according to the Abilene Association of Realtors.

Abilene real estate agents sold 135 homes in March 2013, 17 less than March 2012. The average sales price for a home sold in March was $131,942, which was nearly $6,000 more than in March 2012.

The majority of the homes sold in March were priced from $120,000 to $139,000. Two homes were priced at more than $500,000. The lowest price range in the report — $29,000 and below — saw ten sales.

Sales totaled $17,944,053 last month. Of the 135 homes, 35 buyers paid in cash, 51 used conventional loans, 28 FHA financing and 22 VA.
